IBSA to invest € 15 million to return value to society and contribute to the growth of the Country

In a socio-economic context characterized by a general decline in sales – with particular reference to the mechanical-engineering, transport and clothing industry – Italy, together with France and Germany, is the European leader in pharmaceutical production, with a value of € 34 billion. In Italy, among the pharmaceutical companies representing both a hi-tech industrial value and a strategic asset for the growth of the Country, IBSA Farmaceutici also takes a leading role, with its commitment in research and development equal to 7% of its turnover – about 1 percentage point more than the average of the sector in Italy.

By working every day to enhance the focus on the Person, aiming at the humanization of healthcare, the Company is positioning itself as a strategic market player in innovation, returning value to society and ensuring the growth of the Country, even before the difficulties caused by the pandemic. However, this is a commitment that goes far beyond national borders. The technologies developed and produced in Italy, in fact, end up at the service of global markets where IBSA, in addition to innovating, also promotes the Italian know-how and the Made in Italy. The € 15 million investment plan, confirmed for 2021, involves on the one hand a technological implementation and a production expansion, with the launch of a new line of soft capsules and the activation of a new plant for the production of subcutaneous progesterone in pre-filled syringes; and on the other a new operational headquarters in Lodi, developed from a green perspective, with sustainable solutions and renewable energy sources. Thanks to this expansion – and the digital evolution already underway within its facilities – IBSA will be able to offer high-level training to its scientific partners in its new laboratories. The Company has also been collaborating for some time with Assolombarda, Farmindustria and Confindustria, with which it shares the awareness that investing in training creates qualified personnel, who can listen and respond to the patients’ needs. Finally, pursuing the goal of an activity that meets the needs of people – and against the current trend due to the difficult situation of crisis caused by the pandemic – IBSA continues to hire talents and expand its staff, thus launching a strong signal of recovery and trust.
